Jackfir Conversations: Kaveri Karhade, MD, FAAD

We sat down with Kaveri Karhade, a board-certified general and cosmetic dermatologist in the San Francisco Bay Area, to discuss career and skincare. Dr. Karhade's expertise includes treating medical dermatologic conditions for adults and children, as well as performing cosmetic procedures.

What was your path to becoming a dermatologist?

I'm interested in the intersection of art and science, as well as the psychosocial aspect of health—if you feel good about your skin, it’s confidence-building. Solving skin problems is rewarding, as I am able to directly see the impact skin health has on a person's self-esteem and quality of life.

What are your best tips for healthy skin?

Less is more! Most people don’t need a 15-step skincare routine. See a board-certified dermatologist to help clear any underlying skin problems. Focus on moisturizing, sun protection, and prevention.

Do you have a skincare routine? If so, what is it? When did you become attuned to skincare?

I started getting into skincare during my dermatology residency training, as I saw the impact that skincare products have on the skin—both good and bad! I have a simple skincare routine: I wash my face in the morning, apply a vitamin C serum, and follow with sunscreen. In the evening, I wash my face again, then apply retinol and a moisturizer.

Which Jackfir product is your favorite and why?

I love the moisturizer—it's hydrating and, most importantly, feels clean and refreshing on the skin.
