The 3 Best Skincare Products to Use Daily
written by Charlie Razook, Founder
A skincare routine can be daunting for men. So, adopting a clean skincare routine can seem even more foreign. Historically, women have been keener to take care of their bodies’ biggest organ—the skin. Luckily, men have now caught on to the benefits of proper skin health (ie: look good, feel good). Here are three products that any men starting a skincare routine should use and certain key ingredients to look for.
Step 1: Cleanser
It’s important to cleanse to skin daily. Cleansing helps remove impurities from the pores that can clog pores, as well as buff off dead skin cells that can clog pores. Using a cleanser helps preps the skin to best receive the hydrating benefits of a moisturizer.
Beneficial ingredient in a cleanser:
- Natural Fruit Enzymes: Natural fruit enzymes from pineapple and papaya can help break down protein in dead skin and gently exfoliate the skin surface. The result is brighter skin with a smoother appearance.
- Calendula: Calendula helps to soothe and moisturize the skin.
Step 2: Shave Cream
If you are a shaver, we recommend shaving after cleansing the skin. Shaving with a razor can further exfoliate the skin and help remove dead skin cells. Choose a shave cream that does not use harsh chemicals or dry out the skin. One with moisturizing properties is best to help counteract the innately harsh action of shaving.
Beneficial ingredients in a shave cream:
- Cucumber Extract: Cucumber extract helps soothe the skin and reduce irritation often associated with shaving.
- Bisabolol: This oil extracted from chamomile is known for its calming and may have antioxidant potential, which soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
Step 3: Moisturizer
Finish up with a simple, hydrating moisturizer for all skin types. Nourishing moisturizers help everyone, even if you have oily skin. Moisturizing after showering is important because hot water can remove sources of moisture, like oils, from the skin. A good moisturizer helps supply a bit of water and lock it into the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
Beneficial ingredients in a moisturizer:
- Squalane: Plant-derived squalane helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and moisturize the skin.
- Vitamin C: Vitamin C sources, like the antioxidant tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, can brighten complexion and reduce dark spots.
